Stonington Lodge Formed in 1875
On April 17, 1875, sixteen Master Masons gathered at the office of the Worthington Stone Company and decided to petition the Grand Lodge of Ohio for dispensation. The petition was signed by the following Master Masons:
E.E. Mussey, George Fuller, J.W. Gilbert, Adam Holl, George Bacon, H.A. Lewis, H.B. Wilbur, James Nicholl, George Worthington, Frank Shotten, Frank Klennow, L.R. Cooley, Ed. C. Schuler, H.B. Lindsley, Chauncey Peck, and J. Worthington.
On June 15, 1875, the above members met at their hall in the Nicholl Building at the corner of Tenney Avenue and Main Street at which the dispensation was presented by C.A. Woodward, Deputy Grand Master, to be in effect until the Grand Lodge Meeting at Columbus, Ohio, on October 19, 1875.
At this meeting, the Deputy Grand Master also appointed Brother George Bacon to be the first Worshipful Master, Brother James Worthington to be the first Senior Warden, and Brother E.E. Mussey to be the first Junior Warden.
The following officers were then elected:
Bro. Chauncey Peck — Secretary
Bro. James Nicholl — Treasurer
Bro. E.C. Schuler — Senior Deacon
Bro. Adam Holl — Junior Deacon
Bro. W.A. Lewis — Tyler
